Overview

Daedalus is Intellistack’s product design system—and it had grown reactively. Figma and Storybook drifted apart: mismatched names, different groupings, unscoped tokens, and documentation that lived everywhere or nowhere. That gap slowed handoff, eroded trust in the library, and got harder as designers and engineers leaned on AI and Dev Mode for everyday work. The team needed a foundation that could support themes without a painful reskin and absorb fast-moving Figma and MCP capabilities—not another one-off cleanup.

Situation

There was no shared map between design and engineering. Designers experimented inside the production library, tokens were unscoped, and Figma components didn’t line up with Storybook—different labels, groupings, and mental models. Documentation didn’t travel with the component, so every handoff re-explained usage—and AI had no reliable layer to read from instance and variant context.
